Discourse #14: Eric Metaxas and Bonhoeffer By: Stephen Reed|Published: May 4, 2010 11:32 AM Author Eric Metaxas explores the life of Christian martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer in a new biography. Listen Now | Download
Metaxas was able to interview people who knew Bonhoeffer, and his journey to Germany to research this book was a personal one, as the maternal side of his family is German. In fact, one of Metaxas’s grandfathers died during World War II. As a result, learning more about Bonhoeffer’s work, set in that particular time in German history, connected deeply with Metaxas’s own family story. I had the chance to talk with Eric about his new book, which has been getting rave reviews nationally from Christian and secular outlets alike. We’re proud that a BreakPoint alumnus has offered the world a fuller story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who refused to back down on numerous occasions before Caesar.
