A Toronto couple is raising a genderless child.

Kathy Witterick and David Stocker have three children -- 2 sons and one yet to be determined. They’re raising their third child, four-month old Storm, as neither boy nor girl, but “free of societal norms about gender.” Only close family and friends know if the child’s male or female.

Bizarre? Not to Jeff Gadere, a clinical psychologist who writes at HealthGuru.com. He sees no potential harm and approves of offering the child “self-determination as to what its interests may be in life… as well as its sexuality.”

For Gadere and Storm’s parents, gender be resisted and reshaped by self-determination. In fact, Storm’s older brothers are often mistaken as girls because of how they dress.

Ironically, Storm’s parents made the choice to raise Storm without gender because they think parents make too many choices for their kids. Ignoring biology on behalf of their child is a big choice. And gender? God already made that choice, didn’t he?
