What is God’s kind of love? I’m John Stonestreet, and this is The Point.

Yesterday, we remembered Francis Schaeffer who would have turned 100 on January 30. One of the most important parts of his legacy was helping Christians understand Christianity as a worldview, and its implications for living in a post-Christian culture. Specifically, he taught that loving God and loving people required believers to actively engage and confront the world of ideas. In The Great Evangelical Disaster, he wrote:

“Truth demands confrontation; loving confrontation, but confrontation nevertheless. If our reflex action is always accommodation regardless of the centrality of the truth involved, there is something wrong. Just as holiness without love is not God's kind of holiness, so also love without holiness, including when necessary confrontation, is not God's kind of love.”
