Book news

Congratulations to my friend Wendy Bilen, whose book Finding Josie was a finalist for the 2009 National "Best Books" Award in the Autobiography/Memoirs category! You can buy it here or, if Amazon runs out -- it looks like they're about to -- you can buy it here.

Speaking of books, another good friend, Mary DeMuth, has two books that are about to go out of print. Watching the Tree Limbs and Wishing on Dandelions are beautifully written books and examples of what Christian fiction can be at its finest. (Note: The stories deal with the sexual abuse of a child.) If you haven't had a chance to get them yet, better hurry! Mary also has a forthcoming memoir that can be pre-ordered.

  1. Joan, the commentary states that the denomination made a formal apology to the abuse victims.
  2. I cannot find a way on any of your sites to comment on the editorial about All God's Children; this is the only venue that I find opportunity to comment. After reading the article and listening to the pod feed, I was surprised and disappointed with Mark Earley's editorial for "spinning" a piece that makes it sound like this practice is occurring today. When did all this take place? What has been done by current leaders to reconcile the matter? And why wouldn't PF research the information first so as not to cause more division among the Body of Christ. It sounds like a smear piece to me. I'd like to see PF include the denomination's response to the admittedly disgusting atrocities. It's like telling all the bad things that Chuck Colson did in 1974 but never dating it or telling what he's done to make up for it. What's that they say about Christians shooting themselves in the foot?
