The Media went crazy over Focus on the Family President Jim Daly’s interview with WORLD Magazine, in which he touched on so-called gay "marriage." We saw headlines like “Focus gives up on traditional marriage.”
However, that’s not what Daly said. He was responding to a particular question about the younger generation and gay "marriage." He said we may have lost younger people on the issue.
But there’s a lesson to be learned from all of this -- and Daly points to it. We need a two-fold approach in upholding marriage between one man and one woman.
First, we Christians need to say to the public and even to the gay community that we are responsible for the decline in marriage. Our job is to clean up our own house and rebuild the culture of marriage in the church and to display healthy marriages as a witness to the world.
Then, as Daly said in the interview, "we can continue to work on defending marriage as best as we can."
