The Scriptures mention bringing forth the legitimate fruits of repentance (which were evident in Chuck's life). The whole tone of the Edwards article seemed to support the rotten, counterfeit fruit of self-pity.

Chuck Colson earned the skepticism his conversion was greeted with, and then worked hard for many years to earn respect and acceptance as a genuine Christian. I hope John Edwards will sincerely try to follow a similar path and isn't bringing God into it as nothing more than a cynical move.
