His presence has been a staple in many houses. Raised Baptist, Andy Griffith decided to use his God-given talent to entertain as sheriff, lawyer, country bumpkin, and singer.
May you rest in peace, Andy.
Comments:
And later...his character Ben Matlock was a wily streetsmart lawyer who was a cheapskate...and who demanded $100,000 to defend the well off, but who could be badgered or begged into defending the less well funded. Matlock had his own take on justice and once in a while he might (sneakily) sabotage his client's own chances if the client did kill the victim!...
But his movie FACE IN THE CROWD is a good film about how some media types can create a great popular and political figure out of some clever, charming but still unknown guy.
He, along with the late Ernest Borgnine, are the TV dad generation to most Baby boomers (and the grandpa generation to later viewers). Solid, dependable, with a sense of humor.
