Stumped for a Christmas Gift Idea?

Finding good biographies can be quite challenging. So when a historian of Thomas Kidd's caliber recommends a few, I take note.

Besides the five on his official list, he gives a nod to a few others, including his own: "Patrick Henry: First Among Patriots." I'm in the midst of reading it and can recommend it.

Along with Kidd's recommendations, I also recommend two of Jonthan Aitken's biographies: "Charles W. Colson: A Life Redeemed" and "John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace."

So many good books to read, so little time.

Comments:

William Manchester's Churchill trilogy just got completed by his estate.

Maria Theresa by Edward Crankshaw is a splendid biography.
