Jess, your article reminded me so vividly of my first prison visit--also to Patuxent four years ago. I could almost see those gawking faces pressed through the bars, that dusty, uncomfortable walk to the women's facility, and the warmth of that small room filled with women whose scars only make their praise more beautiful.
