There's a bit of a disturbance at the Los Angeles Police Dept. these days. Apparently L.A. deputies have been competing in arrest contests, in a department-wide effort to boost morale and prod lazy employees. On its face the competition seemed like a good idea, but now many are howling the opposite. But before you go thinking that random senseless arrests were made...
Operation Any Booking did not result in an increase in arrests on the
day of the contest, according to records provided to The Times in
response to a public records request. The cities reported a combined
total of 28 arrests, which was equal to the daily average that month.
Well that's a sigh of relief. I was starting to have visions of Deputy Barney Fife arresting and booking little old Emma Watson for harmless jaywalking.
